The Watkins Street Studio is part of the nonprofit Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens (PMG). It is a mosaicked art environment and community space that hosts tours, workshops, and other public events. For the safety of the artwork and guests, and to ensure the best possible visitor experience, we ask that you respect the following policies.
Watkins Street Studio Rules & Policies
- Visitor Experience
- For the preservation of the space, we ask that visitors refrain from touching the artwork (this includes mosaicked walls and sculptures).
- No soliciting.
- Backpacks and large bags must be worn in front for the duration of your visit.
- Playing music, shouting, foul language, and/or other disruptive activities are not permitted.
- Passageways must remain clear to all visitors.
- If visitors are caught damaging or vandalizing the artwork the authorities will be contacted.
- Personal Safety
- The Watkins Street Studio is an active workspace. Please do not touch materials or tools that are property of PMG’s Preservation Team.
- The Watkins Street Studio maintains a “two feet on the ground” policy. There is no running, climbing, acrobatics, or rough play anywhere on the property.
- Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times.
- Children must be supervised at all times. Anyone under 16 years of age will not be admitted without an adult.
- Be respectful of areas that are marked as not open to the general public. Do not enter these areas.This includes the second floor of the building.
- No firearms or fireworks.
- Scooters, wheelie shoes, and skateboards are not allowed.
- Please keep your personal items with you at all times. PMG is not liable for any belongings that are lost, stolen, or broken during your visit to the Watkins Street Studio.
- Photography
- Casual photography is encouraged; any photo shoots need to be scheduled in advance. Please click on “Photo Shoot Request” in the upper left-hand corner of the page to schedule your shoot.
- Selfie-sticks and tripods are not permitted during tours or programs

- Unauthorized Photo Shoots may be asked to leave the premises.
- Food & Drink
- Visitors are welcome to bring food and/or drink into the Watkins Street Studio. Any waste should be disposed of in our garbage and recycling bins. Litter may damage the art.
- No alcoholic beverages are allowed during events or programs unless specifically noted in the event description.
- Smoking & Drugs
- The Watkins Street Studio is a tobacco-free environment. Please refrain from chewing or smoking tobacco, vaping, or using e-cigarettes on the property. Anyone caught violating this rule will be asked to leave the premises.
- The Watkins Street Studio is a drug-free zone. Visitors found consuming illegal substances will be required to leave the premises.
- Pets
- Child/dog friendly dogs and service animals are allowed at the Watkins Street Studio. We ask that you keep your pet on a leash and please take them outside if they need to use the restroom.
